Letter from the Reunion Committee

Dear family,

After looking into a dozen or so resorts in the mid-Atlantic and New England area, your reunion coordination committee (Ellen, Robin, Judy) has decided upon a lovely resort in the Poconos for our family’s next reunion – The Inn at Pocono Manor.

The Inn is an historic 250-room hotel in the mountains of Pennsylvania, with all the amenities and activities we have come to expect – plus a reasonable price. It became the obvious choice as the other places we considered were ruled out either on the basis of size, location, lack of facilities, cost, safety considerations, or other factors.

When you have a chance, please check out The Inn’s website at www.poconomanor.com. By way of summary, the resort has an elegant main lodge with a spacious lobby and many conversation areas. It also has a beautifully landscaped outdoor pool, as well as a wading pool, a brand new playground, a fitness center, an indoor pool, and a full spa. Other on-site facilities include (but are not limited to) tennis, racquetball, basketball, volleyball, horseback riding, hiking and biking trails, fly fishing, and two 18-hole golf courses. The resort has easy interstate access and is served by three airports – Lehigh Valley International, Newark International, and Wilkes Barre/Scranton.

Surprisingly, for all that our reunion package offers, the rates are equivalent to (or a little less than) what we paid at our last reunion. The cost will be $140 per night per adult for double occupancy. This includes three meals a day, including lunch on the day of checkout. Children under five are free; children 6 -12 are $40 per night; children 13+ are full price. Taxes and gratuities are already built into the price. Breakfast and lunch are buffet style, and dinner is served off a special menu. A section of the dining room will be blocked off for our family.

Although the resort is not fancy, there is a dress code for dinner (“no shorts, jeans, sneakers or golf hats; men are required to wear collared shirts”). We had some concern about this but feel that when it is viewed next to all the benefits offered, it is not a major issue. And it still leaves us plenty of room for creativity!

At this point, there are just two things we need you to do:

· Be sure you have the correct dates on your calendars for our 2009 reunion. Our reunion will take place JUNE 19-21, 2009, with the option to come a day early if you wish.

· Please fill out and return the short form on the next page BY MAY 30, letting us know the probability of your coming, how many rooms you will need, and whether you think you might come a day early.

We will be back in touch in the early fall, when other aspects of reunion planning will start to get underway. In the meantime, please give some thought to what aspects of the reunion you might like to help with. We wish you all a wonderful summer!

Love,
Ellen, Robin, and Judy

Mini-Reunion in NYC

Dottie and Hal Miller have been in NYC for a few days with a very busy social calendar. I was lucky enough to snag a dinner date with them and Judy & Al Prigal. We had a delicious dinner at Cellini on E. 54th Street and got caught up on the latest in the Rubinstein family. We heard all about life in Tennessee, where Dottie and Hal lead a busy life and love living near Brant, Patricia, Sally and Jim. Peter was in Chicago and missed a fun evening!
